2022 League Update

Published Jan 12, 2022

Thank you supporters of Southwest Soccer. 2021 was a year that demanded more flexibility and understanding, but that teamwork is what helped find solutions to the unique problems we all experienced in 2021.

SoCal Premier returned to play for the Spring/Summer. IE Republic FC clinched the title with impressive playoff victories over FC United Kingdom and LA Monsters. The Fall season kicked into gear with three Men’s Open divisions in SoCal Premier, an Over 30 division and the inaugural season of Nevada Premier. We saw five clubs enter into the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup qualifiers and Inland Empire FC earned the first spot in the 2022 NISA Independent Cup by defeating Capo FC and Nevada Premier Fall Champions Las Vegas Legends U20. Finally we saw a successful group stage for both the Raul Briones Cup and Master’s Cup.

During this time the Southwest Premier League garnered more interest from clubs all over the region, which has led to the creation of new divisions launching this Spring.

2021-2022 Spring Season
SoCal Premier
The Men’s Open will be launching an additional division in the spring with seven clubs: A.S. Los Angeles II, CDC Dominguez SC, Fontana Legacy SC, Fullerton Disciples FC II, IE Republic FC, Problems FC and Temecula FC. The division will kick off in February with the final standings determining what division each club plays in the subsequent ‘22/’23 season.

Pacific Premier
The Pacific Premier will start in February with eight clubs: AFC Solano, AFC South Bay, Dublin Celtic FC, JASA RWC U23, Juventus Academy Silicon Valley, Lobos United FC, Metro FC and Modesto City FC.The region will be split into an East and West. Clubs will face their respective region rivals home and away, while facing opposing region clubs once. Then both top of the East and West tables will play to be crowned Champions of the Pacific Premier and be entered into NISA Independent Cup qualification this Summer.

We are also exploring an affiliation with another league in the Pacific region. It is important that we continue to bring more voices to the table, so we can all participate in creating a more open and diverse soccer community.

Nevada Premier
The 2021 Fall season ended on a high-note with Las Vegas Legends U20 clinching the title. The first season helped build crucial relationships in Nevada that will allow us to build a bridge between local and national leagues. The Nevada Premier Spring season is set to kick off in late February/ early March. The region welcomes new club Las Vegas Rams, bringing the region to seven clubs.

NISA Independent Cup Qualifiers
Open competitions are key to the development of soccer in our region. As an affiliate of NISA we have been allotted four slots in the 2022 NISA Independent Cup. Inland Empire FC clinched the first spot by defeating LV Legends U20 this past December. One spot will be given to the Raul Briones Cup Champion. The final two slots will be determined through an inter-regional playoff.

2022 will bring about many new experiences and opportunities for those that participate in grassroot soccer. The Southwest Premier League believes that its continued efforts to bring organizations together will help create a strong and functional open system in the Southwest.

Thank you,
Southwest Premier League
